Lodging at Biosphere 2

You do not need to make detailed reservations, we will assign rooms and take payment upon arrival.  We have plenty of space.  We will be staying in comfortable "casitas", 4-5 bedroom units with private or shared bathrooms, a large kitchenette and common area. Please indicate when you register if you would like to choose a roomate (@$39.50/night), have a roomate assigned to you (@$39.50/night) or if you prefer not to share a bedroom (@$79/night for twin or full-size bed). Wifi is available in most rooms and in common areas at Biosphere 2.

Van transportation from Tucson International Airport to Biosphere 2

We plan to arrange a free airport shuttle from the Tucson airport to Biosphere 2. If you rent a car or drive yourself, prepare for at least an hour driving time from the airport to Biosphere 2.  You can also drive from the Phoenix airport in less than two hours.

Tentatively, we are planning for airport shuttles to Biosphere 2 at 12:30 PM, 2:30 PM, and 5:30 PM on Monday. Please let us know which shuttle you want to take so we can look for you. email

On Thursday, we will have post-meeting airport shuttles at 11:30 AM and 12:30 PM and we hope others will self-organize to carpool. Please let us know if you would like to take one of the shuttles. email

Food

Biosphere 2 is rather secluded so our meals must be catered. Vegetarian/Vegan selections will be available for all meals. A cash bar is planned for the evenings.  Meals will be served through lunch Thursday.

Registration Fees

The registration fee is $100 for professionals and $50 for students. If the registration fee will prohibit a student from participating, please contact us by email

We understand some federal employees may need to pay for registration in advance.  You may pay in advance for registration by calling Christine Dunlap at Biosphere 2 at 520-838-6139 and she will gladly take your credit card payment over the phone.

Payment for lodging and registration will be made on site, and can be made by cash, check or credit card.
